About the role

The Edit, a leading social-first creative agency, is seeking a highly motivated Social Media Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who lives and breathes social media and is eager to gain hands-on experience working across strategy, content creation, community management, trend research, and day-to-day social execution for leading beauty, fashion, lifestyle, entertainment, and consumer brands.

Working alongside our Social team, you'll support the day-to-day management of client social channels and get an inside look at how a social-first agency takes an idea from trend or insight to concept, content, and live post. We're looking for someone who is creative, organized, culturally curious, and genuinely excited about what's happening on TikTok, Instagram, and beyond.

Compensation & Eligibility

This internship is for academic credit only and is unpaid. Candidates must be eligible to receive internship credit through an accredited college or university and provide any required documentation from their academic institution. We are happy to work with students and university programs to fulfill internship requirements.

  • Support the Social team with day-to-day management and execution across client social channels
  • Assist with content calendars, post scheduling, caption development, and publishing across Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms
  • Monitor TikTok, Instagram, and emerging platforms for trends, sounds, formats, conversations, and cultural moments that could be relevant to our clients
  • Help brainstorm social-first content concepts, recurring series, campaign ideas, and reactive opportunities
  • Conduct competitive and category research to identify what brands and creators are doing well on social
  • Support community management, including monitoring comments, conversations, and audience sentiment
  • Assist with pulling references and inspiration for creative briefs, content shoots, and client presentations
  • Help organize and maintain social assets, content calendars, links, and other campaign materials
  • Support social reporting by gathering performance metrics and identifying top-performing content
  • Assist with on-set and in-studio content creation when needed, including capturing behind-the-scenes and social-first footage
  • Help identify emerging creators, brands, cultural moments, and platform trends worth having on our radar
  • Support the Social team with special projects and client needs as they arise

Who You Are

  • You genuinely love social media and spend enough time on TikTok and Instagram to know what's trending before it hits everyone else's feed
  • You have a strong understanding of what makes content feel native to different social platforms
  • Creative and full of ideas, but equally comfortable staying organized and executing the details
  • Strong written communicator with an eye for social copy, brand voice, and internet culture
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable taking initiative
  • Curious about why certain content performs and interested in learning the strategy behind successful social channels
  • Able to juggle multiple brands, projects, and priorities in a fast-paced agency environment
  • Familiar with Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and emerging social platforms
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace, Canva, and presentation tools; experience with social scheduling or analytics platforms is a plus
  • Basic photo or video editing skills are a plus, but not required
  • Previous internship, social media, marketing, communications, content creation, or customer service experience is a plus, but not required
  • Must be based in the Los Angeles area and available to work in person from our Santa Monica studio

What You'll Gain

  • Hands-on experience working on social media for leading consumer brands
  • Exposure to social strategy, content creation, community management, reporting, and client services
  • An understanding of how social-first ideas move from strategy and concept through production and publishing
  • Experience identifying trends and translating them into relevant opportunities for brands
  • The opportunity to participate in brainstorms, content shoots, and real client work
  • Direct experience working alongside social strategists, creatives, producers, and account teams
