About the role

Hungry Minds is a fast-growing eCommerce company focused on innovative products and data-driven marketing. We create campaigns that engage audiences, drive sales, and build lasting customer loyalty.

We’re looking for a Head of Social Media to build and lead Hungry Minds’ social media presence. This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone who can develop a clear social media strategy, turn it into an actionable plan, and build a repeatable process for testing, learning, and scaling what works.

We’re looking for someone who has built and implemented a social media strategy, can demonstrate tangible results, and is equally comfortable setting direction and getting involved in execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own social media strategy: Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with our audience, business goals, and evolving brand direction.
  • Build a content system: Establish content pillars, formats, channel priorities, and a structured content calendar that supports consistent, high-quality execution.
  • Drive audience growth: Develop and test initiatives to increase organic reach, grow relevant audiences, and strengthen brand awareness across platforms.
  • Lead experimentation: Test content formats, creative approaches, collaborations, and emerging platforms. Analyze results and turn successful experiments into repeatable processes.
  • Oversee content production: Work with designers, photographers, videographers, and external creators to brief, coordinate, and deliver content that meets the brand’s creative standards.
  • Build an engaged community: Develop meaningful relationships with our audience through conversations, community management, user-generated content, and relevant interactions.
  • Manage partnerships: Identify and coordinate influencer, creator, and brand partnership opportunities that support social media growth.
  • Measure performance: Define relevant KPIs, monitor channel performance, and translate data into actionable recommendations for improving content and results.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with creative, product, and marketing teams to ensure social media supports broader company priorities and brand development.
  • Establish efficient workflows: Build processes for planning, production, publishing, experimentation, and reporting that can scale with the business.
  • Report on results: Communicate performance, key learnings, priorities, and resource needs to leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience developing and implementing social media strategies, with tangible results you can demonstrate.
  • A track record of growing brand presence, organic reach, and audience engagement across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Strong strategic thinking combined with a willingness to execute, test ideas, and get hands-on when needed.
  • Experience translating business and brand objectives into content strategies, creative briefs, and practical execution plans.
  • Strong storytelling skills and an excellent eye for visual quality, creative consistency, and brand communication.
  • A data-driven mindset, with the ability to interpret performance metrics, identify patterns, and make informed decisions.
  • Experience coordinating content production and collaborating with creative teams, freelancers, agencies, or other external partners.
  • Understanding of community building and how to create genuine audience engagement beyond publishing content.
  • Experience with influencer marketing, creator collaborations, or brand partnerships.
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and own a content calendar independently.
  • Excellent written communication skills in English.
  • An entrepreneurial, ownership-driven mindset and the ability to work effectively in a small, fast-moving team.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in e-commerce, direct-to-consumer (DTC), publishing, lifestyle, consumer products, or edutainment.
  • Experience marketing physical products and connecting social media activity to commercial outcomes.
  • Familiarity with paid social fundamentals, including boosting content, audience targeting, and collaboration with paid media teams.
  • Experience building a personal brand or developing a founder-led social media presence.
  • Experience establishing social media workflows and scaling content operations from an early stage.

What Success Looks Like

  • A clear, actionable social media strategy with defined priorities and measurable goals.
  • Consistent execution supported by an effective content planning and production process.
  • Measurable improvements in relevant metrics such as organic reach, audience growth, engagement, and content performance.
  • A structured experimentation process that identifies winning formats and turns successful ideas into repeatable content systems.
  • A recognizable, coherent social media presence that reflects the brand and builds meaningful relationships with its audience.
  • Clear reporting and recommendations that help leadership understand performance and make informed decisions.
